Amidst all of the turmoil and anti-police sentiment, it is important that we pause today and remember that on September 11, 2001, police officers, fire fighters, EMS, and other public safety personnel ran not only toward, but into the World Trade Center.
Their selfless disregard for their own safety and their lives, saved more than 25,000 people at the World Trade Center. Everyday across America, women and men, continue to put on their uniform, and respond to calls for help with bravery, professionalism, and dedication regardless of the consequences.
Those of us who responded to the World Trade Center on 9/11, will never forget —we can’t—it has left an indelible mark on our souls.
The Center for Mass Violence Response Studies is dedicated to the prevention of extremism and mass violence. WE WILL NEVER FORGET.
