Dr. Charles Miramonti attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio and completed his residency training in emergency medicine and fellowship training in prehosptial care at Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM). Dr. Miramonti served as EMS medical director for Wishard Ambulance Service and Indianapolis Fire Department from 2004 to 2011, before being named as Chief of EMS for the City of Indianapolis and Chief of the Indianapolis EMS service in 2011. He is also is a founding member and now Chief Medical Officer of the MESH Hospital Preparedness Coalition, a ground breaking partnership of health care entities that work to identify shared risks and develop best practices in clinical excellence to work together during an emergency. Dr. Miramonti served as the Chairman of the Indianapolis Coalition for Patient Safety from 2012-2014 working to share best practices for patient care and safety across multiple partnering healthcare networks. From 2014 to April of 2017, he further served as the Medical Director of the Michael and Susan Smith Emergency Department at Eskenazi Health, the Chief of Care Integration and VP of Value Based Care at Eskenazi Health until his departure in December of 2018.

Additionally, Dr. Miramonti is an Associate Professor of clinical emergency medicine and the former Division Chief of the IUSM Department of Emergency Medicine’s Division of Out of Hospital Care. He also provided over 13 years of service as a Tactical EMS/SWAT Physician providing advanced medical services for the law enforcement units of Indianapolis Metropolitan Police and Marion County Sherriff Departments.. Other accolades, include the 2013 Achievement in Medicine (AIM) Award from the St. Margret’s Hospital Guild, the Indianapolis Business Journal’s 40 under 40 in 2013, the Wishard Memorial Hospital Physician of the Year in 2009, and Indiana State EMS Medical Director of the Year in 2006.
